Sansei, born in Los Angeles, grew up in Berkeley and Oakland. Scholar of various things, including Asian Americans, college admissions and race politics. Been studying zen for a minute. Convert Buddhism. Arrived at zen in 1998. But growing up Japanese American in the Bay Area means I was Buddhist adjacent. So many in the JA community went to temple or played in sports leagues. Currently, I am mostly retired.
