neowise

July 25, 2020

Friday the 24th, after a week + of hoping for clear skies, it happened. And there was neowise. A nice looking smudge. Schmear of cream cheese near the big dipper. Up close, the NASA neowise photo for this entry bears a mild resemblance to a virus.

Seeing the comet afforded just a bit of grace. Standing in darkness, witnessing the blaze of light, a rare marvel of the universe. The experience—a flash in perception, sizing up my small self in proper proportion to the universe. Some might call it humility, for me, the word grace came to mind.
