Queer dharma, undoubtedly, is meant to be a safe place to sit zazen, be in ceremony, and study dharma. So that is one basic definition of queer dharma. It is dharma for the self-identified queers. If queer is about the bodies, ours, and our presence, it is also more than that.
Queer, in academia, is sometimes a verb…. as in queering, c.f. queer theory… was not just about the presence of queer bodies but also about queer relationship to established knowledge, challenging the normality of gender, sexuality in various histories, disciplines, texts.
Does it make sense to speak of queering the dharma?
